Where to Stay

For first-time visitors, Tsim Sha Tsui and Central are the most recommended areas.

Pro tip: staying 5-8 minutes' walk from an MTR station but outside the prime core can unlock 30-40% lower prices while maintaining excellent connectivity.

Tsim Sha Tsui, Kowloon - Best for First-Timers 🏆

Located on the waterfront tip of Kowloon Peninsula. Excellent MTR connectivity, iconic harbour promenade, tons of shopping, and the highest concentration of Indian restaurants in Hong Kong. Direct access to Victoria Harbour views and Avenue of Stars.

Victoria Peak and The Peak Tram

The single most iconic experience in Hong Kong. Standing at the top and watching the wall of skyscrapers drop away into Victoria Harbour is the moment the city clicks.

Take the Peak Tram up, the 8-minute ride is an experience in itself. Take that cheap sky terrace ticket because it is worth it. You can visit this place almost any time of the day and would not be disappointed. Avoid weekends and holidays at all costs.

Tian Tan Buddha & Po Lin Monastery

Highlight is the journey. The Ngong Ping 360 Cable Car is a 25-minute ride over mountains, the sea, and the airport. Book the crystal+ cabin for a glass bottom floor experience, it's worth the extra cost for the views alone. To save cost you can book standard cabin coming down.

A 34-metre bronze Buddha sitting on a hilltop on Lantau Island, reached by climbing 268 steps. The nearby Po Lin Monastery is one of Hong Kong's most important Buddhist monasteries.

Victoria Harbour & Symphony of Lights

Victoria Harbour is the heart of Hong Kong, the stretch of water separating Hong Kong Island from Kowloon, framed on both sides by some of the most dramatic skylines on the planet. Take a ferry tour of the harbour during the evening to see the city light up as the sun sets.

The Avenue of Stars at Victoria Harbour, features tributes to Hong Kong cinema, including the iconic Bruce Lee statue. At 8:00 PM every single night, the Symphony of Lights kicks off, a free light and sound show where buildings on both sides of the harbour light up with lasers and coordinated LED displays. It lasts about 10 minutes and is best watched from the TST Promenade near the Clock Tower.

Macau Day Trip

Macau is just an hour from Hong Kong by ferry and makes for one of the best day trips you can do in Asia. We would recommend staying more than just a day in Macau as it has a lot to offer. Indian passport holders can enter Macau visa-free for up to 30 days with just a valid passport, no separate registration needed. Check out our blog Grand Macau for more information.

Ocean Park

A marine themed amusement park on the south side of Hong Kong Island that blends roller coasters, aquariums, animal exhibits, and genuinely beautiful scenery.

Ocean Park tends to attract fewer tourists than Disneyland, so queues are shorter. It's a great choice if your group prefers roller coasters.

Man Mo Temple

One of Hong Kong's oldest and most atmospheric temples, tucked away on Hollywood Road in Sheung Wan. The moment you step inside, you're hit by the heavy scent of incense, giant spiralling coils hang from the ceiling, filling the space with swirling smoke and an almost dreamlike haze.

It's small, you can see everything in 15-20 minutes, but it's one of those places that photographs beautifully and feels deeply peaceful despite being in the middle of one of the densest cities on Earth.

Temple Street Night Market

Hong Kong's most famous night market. It comes alive after 6 PM as hundreds of stalls unfold electronics, souvenirs, phone accessories, watches, and plenty of street food.

Haggling or bargaining is expected and part of the experience. Neon signs, steam rising from food stalls, packed crowds, and that unmistakable Hong Kong night market energy.

Sneaker Street (Fa Yuen Street)

If you're into sneakers, streetwear, or just love browsing, Fa Yuen Street in Mong Kok better known as Sneaker Street is a must. An entire block lined with dozens of sneaker shops stacked side by side, carrying everything from the latest Nike and Adidas drops to rare limited editions and retro Jordans. Prices are competitive and you'll find models here that are hard to get in India.

Even if sneakers aren't your thing, the surrounding Mong Kok neighbourhood is one of Hong Kong's most vibrant. The Ladies' Market is a block away, and the area has some of the best street food in the city.

Budget above covers almost everything you'll actually spend on your trip. Flights, hotel, all meals, local transport, attraction tickets and day-to-day expenses. Compare this to the "Hong Kong packages" you'll find on travel websites like MakeMyTrip, EaseMyTrip, or Yatra, those packages look cheaper upfront but come with a long list of exclusions. Most don't include lunch and dinner, skip major attraction tickets like Peak Tram or Ngong Ping 360, exclude some transfers, and charge extra for anything outside the fixed itinerary. By the time you add everything back, the final cost is often 30–50% higher than the advertised price.
